Wordart 2003 and Wordart 97 incompatibility

I have around 200 documents created in Word97 and using Wordart 97 to make a
vertical box, like a rotated headline down the side of the page. The text is
very simple, no odd colours, bends, fill etc - just plain bold text in black
and emboldened - it says things like "BOOKING FORM" and "MAY 2007 COURSES".
We recently upgraded to Office 2003 and now when I click on the Wordart I
get an error message "The server application, source file or item cannot be
found. Make sure that the application is properly installed, and that it has
not been deleted, moved or renamed." Right clicking on the object offers
Microsoft Wordart 3.2 Object - Convert. Trying that gives the same error
message.
Wordart 2003 is installed as I can recreate the objects, but I'd much rather
just be able to edit them with Wordart 2003, rather than have to create, cut
and past and re-edit the 200 documents.
Has anyone got a workaround, or know what I'm doing wrong?

Hi Mary
well, I downloaded the file and ran it and the problem persists - I ran it
again just in case it hadn't installed properly the first time. However,
interestingly, I now have two new blank options in the insert object dialogue
box, which when I try to insert them say: "The application was created in
Symantec. The application is not available to open the object. Make sure that
the application is properly installed, and that it has not been deleted,
moved or renamed." Also looking in Add/Remove programs in Control Panel shows
the Publisher WordArt Compatibility Add-in, but it has no size or date and
can only be removed and not changed or modified. I've tried installing it
with Word open and Word closed - with Word open, the message "The application
was created in Symantec. The application is not available to open the object.
Make sure that the application is properly installed, and that it has not
been deleted, moved or renamed." comes back again. Obviously I'm running
Symantec Security 2007, but this message does not make much sense. I've
looked at the Symantec Website and this does not seem to be a common message
and none of the searches I've tried have come up with anything remoteley
similar
The main point though is that basically there is no differerence. Right
clicking on the object gives the same menu and conversion of Wordart to v.3.2
and then the same error message.

Certainly, all the Microsoft Knowledgebase files talk about it being useful
for Publisher, but not specifically for word. Can you check and see if the
WordArt Compatibility Add-in, shows up differently on your machine?
regards
Dave

Hello Dave,

It works perfectly for me, both in Word 2003 and 07. I did not have it installed
on this computer until your message, I installed it without issue.

Might disable Norton and then install it.
