Wordpad Bug?: Printed Text exceeds Bottom Margin

B

Ben

I have my Win98 and Win2000 with latest Service Pack.

The wordpad aways prints the text exceeded the Bottom margin.

To get the bottom printed text from 1 inches. I have to set the bottom
margin about 2 inches. Otherwise, I may lost some text at the bottom of the
page.

Any of you experience the same problem?

Let give it a try: Set Bottom margin. Click Print Preview.

Have you selected the correct paper size: letter and not A4?

Yes, I did that correctly.
The thing is, even I haven't printed yet, just print preview checking, the
text already exceeded the bottom margin!

Have you try print preview to see what going on?

I have tried it on 4 different computers

Let me know what's going on on your system please!

One more thing: It just works correctly so far when I use Times New Roman
font.

It works incorrectly when I use Arial, Courier New (badly incorrect),
Helvetica, Microsoft Sans Serif

I think it is really a bug

Sounds as though you may have a corrupt printer driver. My WordPad is Ok
with any TT font.

I installed different Printer Drivers for different Printers. The situation
is still worse

May be something wrong with module that take care the part to stream out the
text to printer driver, not the driver itself. If so why it is happen to all
PCs in my depament?

(Yes, It is fine to use different Printer Drivers eventhough I have have the
right Printer connect to my PC since I just use Print Preview. I did printed
out the papers on 2 different real printers. Now I am tired to do that. The
Print Preview is good eanough to see my experiments )

One of my friend just report the same problem!
We use the same Wordpad Version 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 4) on window
2000

+Let just type any thing, copy and past... what ever for more than 4 page
+Then set the Bottom Margin to 2"
+Select All, Choose differrent font Times New Roman, Arial, Courier New,
Helvetica, Microsoft Sans Serif
+Click Print Preview each type you change the font

I think the problem is from the RichTextFormat Module that Wordpad uses:
RICHED20.DLL in system32 folder. My version is 5.30.23.1215

What is yours?

Well I'm on WordPad 5.1 which won't be available publicly until Windows XP
SP2 becomes available in the next couple of months. That may explain the
differences.

FWIW - Using w2kPro - Wordpad 5.0
Actually I never use Wordpad but this post made me go see if there was a
problem and, lo and behold, it's wonky alright!
In the preview window I can get lines below the margin and, depending on
the font, sometimes only half the bottom line shows up.

While I can't get too excited about it (as I said, I rarely, if ever,
use it) I can "vouch" for the OP's comments.

You know, I actually use RichEdit Control (RICHED20.DLL ) for my
application. Wordpad's also using it. I found the problem on my application
first. Then I went to Wordpad to see what happen.

I'd like to make sure if it is really a bug.
