Work Assignment - by Individual AND by team?

Not sure if anyone has tried this, but I have a project where the majority of the tasks will be completed collaboratively during long work sessions. I would like to assign the work done in these sessions to a team resource (Core Team), while having tasks that people must complete offline assigned to the named resource (John). I would like to create a relationship to show John and the other resources are part of the Core Team resource group (I also have other team resource groups). Does anyone know a way to do this so each resource would appear allocated for their individual, as well as group assignments?
