Work & Assignment TimePhasedData in XML

B

Brian Pieslak

I'm having a rough time working with Project Professional and the Work
column.

I have written what I believe to be the correct XML document for my project.
Its a 6 day task, running from 2/18/05 to 2/25/05, and it has 40 hours of
Work assigned to 1 person.

The Task has the correct Start, Finish, Work, and Duration values.
The Assignment has the correct Start, Stop, Resume, Finish, Work, and
Duration values, and I have 8 TimePhaseData tagsets.
2 have empty values (Saturday and Sunday), and the other 6 have a value of
PT6H40M0S (so 6 of these gives me the PT40H0M0S, which matches my Work
value).

When I open my XML file in Project Professional, and I examine the Work
Column, I see 40.17 Hours *regardless* of the Calculation Mode.
When I let Project perform its calculations, the Duration is then changed to
6.02 days, and my Finish date of 2/25/05 is then pushed out to Monday,
2/28/05.
It seems like a very small discrepancy, but pushing the Finish date out
causes all sorts of problems with the schedule, b/c there are dependencies
on this task---so the final task of the project gets pushed out incorrectly.

I've spent a *lot* of time looking at Project XML, and I'm not quite sure
what else Project Professional needs in order to read my Work definition
correctly.
I've compared my XML to samples genereated directly by Project Professional,
and the Work definition looks identical.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Brian
