Work document creating 1000's of extra blank pages

Hi,
I am trying to write my dissertation and any time I paste in information form other word documents I have been working on it add's 1000's of extra blank pages, I can stop it by going to draft view to stop it "repaginating" and clicking undo. But it keeps almost freezing my computer. Is there any wayof stopping this happening?

Infinite pagination is a sign of document corruption. See
