work not summarizing correctly

I'm working with Project 2003 and am finding that work is not summarizing
correctly. Here's an example of what I am seeing with 1 resource at 100%

Task Name / work / duration
1. User feedback / 20 days / 10 days
1.1. implement feedback on entry / 6 days / 6 days
1.2 implement feedback on approvals / 4 days / 4 days

The duration is summarizing correctly, but the work is additional effort and
I can't figure out why since the individual tasks are accurate.

Hi LML,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

It sounds like you have resources assigned to the summary task and are thus
being counted twice. You might like to see FAQ Item: 49 on summaries.
