Workbook doesn't open on double click

I have three users who have the same behavior in Excel 2007. When they
double click on an Excel workbook when Excel is not already running, Excel
opens, but the workbook does not. If you go to the Office button, choose
Excel Options, then close the Options dialog, the workbook opens. If Excel
is already running when the workbook is double clicked, the workbook opens
without issue.

I saw an article about the Options-Advanced-Ignore other DDE applications
option, but this option is not checked on any of the computers experiencing
the issue.

Any ideas?

From the number of people who have the same problem as you, I'd say it was a
bug.

You've found a work-around, though.

Another one may work:
ctrl-o;esc
(file open and then escape to dismiss that dialog)

It may be slightly quicker if you're hands are on the keyboard.

Ctrl-O then Esc worked, but I would really prefer to have an actual solution.

Andy,

i (or more correct a co-worker of me) have the same problem with the Dutch
version of Excel 2007.

No solutions however found until now.
Haven't tried it, but maybe a full re-install of MS Office 2007 may work ?
