A workbook has suddenly started to open with (Group) at the end of the name &
a lot of the functionality is not working. How do I prevent this and why has
it occured?

You have grouped two or more sheets together - right-click on a
worksheet tab and click on Ungroup sheets. Then save your file.

Hope this helps.

That means you have multiple sheets selected--look at the sheet tabs at the
bottom of the window.

You can rightclick on any of the selected sheets and choose "ungroup sheets".

This is a very nice way to change stuff on multiple worksheets at once. But if
you forget to ungroup the sheets, it's a way to screw up very quickly.

ps. You can click on the first sheet tab and ctrl-click on subsequent to group
sheets.

Sorry Gents, this was my first thought - the tabs were hidden & so I unhid
them & they weren't grouped! It is an option I commonly use but it's not
causing this problem.

Maybe you're not looking at all the tabs.

Make sure you scroll the tab bar right or left.

Even better, if you select an ungrouped sheet tab, does the [group] go away?
