working on back end after DB split

Hello.

How do you make modifications to the back end of your DB
once it has been split? We just split the DB and need to
add a couple new fields to one of the tables, but it tells
me it is not possible due to relationships. I tried to
delete the relationships, however, it will not allow that
either.

Any wisdom or tips with this is appreciated.
