Working on website on a different computer

If I publish my website to my laptop and it was created on my desktop, how do
I make sure that changes made to the website show up on both computers?

Publish from Remote server to local machine(s) (or whatever is most current
copy) before working on it locally.
So...if you Publish from remote server to your laptop, make changes then
Publish back up to server, then when you want to work on Desktop make sure
you Publish from remote server to Desktop before you work on it.

I am trying to publish it and I can't figure out what the remote web site
location is suppose to be

If you have your local web open, the remote server address is that of your
website eg http://www.yoursite.com, or the FTP location (if you don't
publish using the server extensions - contact your host if unsure of the ftp
address). FTP address could be something along the lines of
ftp://ftp.yourwebsite.com

If you have the live site open, or are publishing by FTP to your computer,
the location is the folder where your web is located
eg "x:\pathtoyourwebsite\yourweb\" where "X" is your hard drive and
"pathtoyourwebsite\yourweb" is the location where you store your websites.

Hope that assists you.
