Working with Enterprise Projects locally

When I am on the road or working at home and try to connect via VPN to my
enterprise project server i can not work efficiently.

I would like to know how to check out projects from the project server while
I'm at work to my local machine in order to take them home to work on, then
upon returning to work the next day check them back in. Can this process be
done and merge the changes I have made to enterprise resources while off line?

Is there a white paper or article that describes how to do this if it is
possible?

Do the following while you are still in the office connected to your
corporate network:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional 2002 and log into Project Server
normally
2. Click File - Open and open an enterprise project
3. Click File - Save Offline to save the project as an offline project on
your hard drive
4. Close the project and exit Project Professional

When you are at home, away from your corporate network, and you want to work
on the offline project, do the following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional 2002
2. In the Project Server Accounts dialog, select your regular Project
Server account and click the Work Offline button
3. Click File - Open
4. In the Open from Project Server dialog, select your offline project and
click the Open button
5. Work on your project as you wish, knowing that you cannot use features
that require a network connection to Project Server (such as the Build Team
from Enterprise dialog)
6. Click the Save button to save all changes
7. Close the project and exit Project Professional 2002

When you return to the office and are connected to your network, do the
following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional 2002 and log into Project Server
normally
2. Click File - Open and open the offline project
3. Click File - Save Online
4. When prompted, click the Yes button

That's the only correct way to work with an offline project in Project
Server 2002. Hope this helps.

Yes, I should have mentioned that, but I didn't. This gave you the
opportunity to add some additonal thoughts, which were pithy. Thanks for
sharing! :)
