Working with shared spreadsheets

I have a shared spreadsheet, that is used by about 12 people.

Th eone thing that I've found, is that there are certain formatting
commands that you can't use when it is shared, and I have to un-share
it before applying these.

However, what about hiding columns? I've hidden some columns, but
everytime I load the spreadsheet they are displayed. Is this right,
or is something else displaying them?
