works 6 & 7.0

When I open microsoft works task launcher I get a message "please wait while
windows configures microsoft excel 2000 SR-1", followed by "Insert the
microsoft excel 2000 SR-1 disk & click ok". I have inserted the excel CD &
nothing happens. I tried to re-install Excel as well as works 6.0. I have a
2nd computer with works 7.0 so I installed that but still get this message on
this computer. I am running windows xp.

I went to the microsoft support page & did #'s 1 & 4. I did not run the
windows Installer CleanUp Utility as I was afraid of loosing something &
www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm was unavailable. Anyway what I did so
far did not help, I still get the same message when I try to open Microsoft
works. If I hit cancel 3 times it will start & run.
