works 7.0 to Word 2000

I can't read a Works 7.0 document even after installing the MS Works 6.0
converter. I read this is suppose to work but it doesn't. Does anyone have
any ideas where I can find a free utility or any experiences with this
problem?
I have scoured the newsgroups and have done all I can find for different
things, like going Tools>Options>General>Confirm Conversion at open... but
nothing seems to help.
