Works error when starting Word

Steve

I am using Windows XP with MS Office 2000. When I try and
open MS Word I just started getting an error that
says.... "Works cannot access one or more of the required
files. The files may have been renamed, deleted or
removed. Try reinstalling Works and then starting the
program again."

I don't remember even installing Works on my PC, so it
must have come preinstalled. I dont have a installation
CD either. Any ideas how I can get rid of this error.

I found a program called Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for
Microsoft Word that I tried uninstalling, but it says it
cant find all of the files.

Thanks for any help,
Steve

You may have purchased your computer used. You should have the Works CD.
That's what you need. If you purchased it new, ask the seller for the Works
disc. They should be required to provide it to you. If the computer is a
brand name, contact the manufacturer.

The presence of a listing for the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word
suggests that Works Suite (which contains Word) was installed at one time
and has perhaps been imperfectly uninstalled. The copy of Word you're using,
however, was most likely installed by Works rather than Office. If you have
the Office 2000 CDs, I would advise uninstalling Word and reinstalling it
from Office.
