Works Suite Add-In: what's the point?

Everytime I close Word 2000 I'm prompted to save changes to the global
template (even if I've done nothing!). I've gathered from previous
messages in this newsgroup that uninstalling the Works Suite Add-in
for Word could get rid of that problem. What would I lose by doing
this?

You would lose the integration between Works and Word, but that's no big
deal.

The chief benefits that this integration offers are:

1. Access to a number of Word templates provided only by Works.

2. Ability to use a Works address book or database as a data source for a
mail merge in Word.

3. Ability to start a mail merge from Works.

4. Using the Works Task Launcher, ability to create documents in Word by
clicking buttons such as "Write a letter."

If, as is likely, you aren't using or planning to use any of these features,
and if you're not starting Word from the Works Task Launcher, you'll find
Word behaves much better with the add-in uninstalled.
