Worksheet Problem

Everytime I enter a number followed by an E and another
number into a cell, for example:

24E5

It automatically converts it to 2,400,000. I can turn it
off by formatting the cells to be Text Cells. However,
when I try to sort that column, which has various
alphanumeric values, it won't let me sort because of the E
after the number. Any other letter/number combination can
be sorted, except the E. Does anyone know how to turn
this feature off? Any advice would help. Thank you.

Arnold,

I'm afraid that it can't turned off.
It's the scientific number format which makes this occur.

24E5 is "translated" to 24 * 10^5.
