Workspace archive question

Don

I have an archive copy of a Standard workspace - sales.gsa. I still have the
original Standard workspace "sales" in production, but I need to open the
archive workspace to retrieve a deleted file. If I open sales.gsa, will that
have any impact on the production version of the sales workspace? If so, how
can I open the sales.gsa archive without any impact to the production
workspace? Thanks.

Hi Don -

Its a good question. You'll be please to know that the restored version of
the archive will not overwrite your existing live copy of the sales workspace.

If you want to feel extra secure, make a new archive - sales_june_2009.gsa
(or something) prior to restoring the old one.

When you double-click on your archive file, a new workspace is created.
It's called "Restored copy of <your former workspace name>".
You are alone is this workspace (as manager).
All members present in the production workspace are shown as suspended in
this one.

If your goal is to restore a deleted file :
- restore your GSA
- open your restored workspace
- copy the file
- paste the file in your production workspace
- delete the restored version of your workspace.
