Workspace Size

Got a question for the experts out there. I know that grooce workspaces
are limited to 2GB because after they get bigger than 2GB you cannot invite
anyone new to the workspace. I also know that the limiting factor, based n
my understanding, is a relay server issue or as I understand it.
I have a former clint that has called and asked me a couple of questions,
which are:

1. Is there a plan to allow larger workspaces?
2. If no why?
3. What is the plan for groove, groove sesrver more spacifically? As I
read thing it appears to me that they are kind of making a push to move the
groove functionality into share point. If that is true is there any
documentation or something that I can read to learn more about these future
plans.
As always thanks for you help and knowledge.

TIA

Hi Jim,

Good questions. Office Groove’s successor will be SharePoint Workspace 2010
part of Office 2010:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/sharepoint-workspace/default.aspx

The classic Groove functionalities will remain for peer to peer
collaborations as well as an enhanced integration with SharePoint. The 2 GB
space limit will be retained for Groove 2007 and SPW 2010 workspaces. This
is because synchronization and data integrity issues start arising
approaching the 2 GB size.
