worst nightmare

I have used fp 2002 for almost two years with no problem.
Suddenly, when I try to open it, it freezes up my
computer, or gives the error message saying that there is
a problem, and do i want to open in safe mode? When I
click yes, it freezes up again with the message that the
system is busy. Once i saw a message saying that the
system was dangerously low on resources(these messages
appear in none of my other programs).

I have turned my computer off and on several times. I
have run complete virus scan and everything is ok. The
only new program that I downloaded is Bellsouth's net
accelerator, but i cant believe that would be messing it
up. All my other programs continue to work fine,
including adobe pagemaker and photoshop.

I am tempted to un-install and re-install, but if i do
that, i guess i will lose all the add-ins that i have
enhanced the program with.

Does anybody have any recommendations...i am completely
bamboozeled!!!!

I did download the free Spybot Search and Destroy program
last week....is that program a known problem with fp 2002?

I also forgot to mention that my OE is ME (which I hate
with a passion because I am constantly having to reboot
after running FP2002 and adobe products at the same time
for a while....things go to hell in the proverbial
handbasket.....)

-----Original Message-----
accelerators rarely accelerate anything except confusion & eat resources.
try disabling it from msconfig, or uninstall it.
check whatelse is running
do you run a spyware detector program like AdAware occasionally?

my money is on the accelerator program though...

From the Windows Start menu, search for and delete the system/hidden .web files.

i have deleted the .web files, the bellsouth accelerator,
and defraged my harddrive. All my programs are running
fine EXCEPT FP 2002.

I am now getting an error message saying"frontpage caused
a general protection fault in module user.exe at
000c:00000108" and it is asking me if I want to open it in
safe mode. When I click yes or no, it freezes up
everything and I have to shut off the power to reboot.

uggggggggg!

If you have tried the Repair Option, then Uninstall and then re-install.

I've seen this in the past and have also experienced this in the past. No
matter what you do, you will not be able to reopen that web again without
freezing up the PC.

Do the following. Create a new web. Name it the same as the one you want
to open, but append a number after it. Then, copy and paste the entire web
structure from the old corrupted web to the new web. When it prompts you to
overwrite a directory, say NO. Take note of what those directories where it
ask you this.

Now, the directories that you did not over write, you'll need to open up
each of those and copy and paste the files within those over to the new
directories.

Open FrontPage and then open that new web. It make take just a bit, as
FrontPage will go through and recalculate some thing, but you should be
ready to go within minutes.
