Would love to draw a STRAIGHT line somehow

Simple boxes circles and lines please, cant believe that all this and no
simple drawing tools exept mouse scribbles if you dont have a PAD which most
of us DONT ;-) but might like. May a nudge from MS.....

You can draw them in Word and copy/paste them over as a workaround.

Drawing tools are on the wishlist for the next version of OneNote and I'm
sure the development team will give that feature due consideration.

We sure hear it a lot. I too wish we could put everything anyone might need
in the first version, but as I have written before, we can't, and in any
case it is better to get feedback on the product before adding every thing
in case we're wrong about what people end up using the product for, and get
a lot if unnecessary features.

In the case of drawing tools, we were targeting a scenario of taking meeting
notes in the first release, and it seemed to us that the standard type of
drawing tools took too much time to create a diagram, and the meeting or
lecture would get way ahead of you. So a rough drawing (preferably on a
tablet, but with mouse if necessary) would be better. What we're hearing is
lots of people are using OneNote at their desk or at least not in a hurry,
so there is more oppty to use these tools than we had anticipated.
