If I were you, I'd try to open the document using this
method.
First, go to "File" menu, choose the "open" command,
Specify the location of your document and click once to
highlight it, then go to "type of document" combo box and
choose "All files" type. click on the "ok" or "open"
button and wait and see if it will work.
Tip: If you succeed, "save as" your document in
type "microsoft word" type.
