Writing Pad??????

Hello every one . Im not sure where this post should go so i will start
here. I have been asked by my Boss to look into a digital Pen/Pad where
he can write notes and the eventually finish with them in a format such
as a *.doc. Is anyone aware of such hardware , and handwriting
recognition software that is capable of doing this??? Thanks for the
