Writing to CDROM

The database has grown to the point where the compressed data no longer fits
on to a single floppy disk. I would like to use a re-writable CD instead as
a backup or transfer medium.

However, I am unable to copy files to the folder for the CDRW drive using
VBA code (obj.copyfile or filecopy or calling Shell or Windows API calls).
Once a CD is loaded, I get error messages such as error 52 bad file name.

Am I expecting the impossible?

Michael,

A floppy? Stone age is long gone! there's acute little thing (not even
new anymore, I'm afraid), called a USB Flash Disk. The perfect transfer
medium: P&P, fast, reliable and spatious. They range from 128MB to 2GB
(or more?), and you should be able to get a 128MB for $20 or so, or a
1GB one for $90 or so, just to give you an idea. Two days later you
won't believe you could ever live without one!

Yes, I had considered USB Flash, but some of the users have USB ports in
accessible places on their computers - like round the back on a computer
placed onm a floor under a desk!. Yes I know about extension leads too. The
other concern is that some of the users have Win98 machines without USB
driver support and there is the issue of not removing them at the wrong time.

So, I'm still looking for a way of writing easily to CDRW or CDR by copying
the file as if it were a floppy. Users will still have to invoke the wizrad
to do the final transfer to disk.
