Probably French is installed in the Normal template.
Open Word, type something, select all, change language to American, check
the box for Default, delete everything, save Normal template. Next time the
language of your choice should work.

The language for spell check keeps defaulting to French.
Everything is set to English US. Any ideas whu this is
happening?
