Sharepoint Central Administration offers a Backup and Restore Option
which I have tried to use.
Backup process is very straight forward and so is the restore except
in my environment it fails. The sharepoint config elements restore
but shared service and pwa elements do not. Typically with the
message:
Object PWA_Published failed in event OnRestore. For more information,
see the error log located in the backup directory. SPException: The
specified component exists. You must specify a name that does not
exist.
Has anyone had success with this mechanism?
What are the dangers of attempting selective restores?
Can I use this tool to migrate configured project server environments
to other servers?
