wwwroot files

I have Windows XP Pro. I wanted to clean up files under
the wwwroot entry. Are there centain files that I cannot
delete and would mess things up?

I think I read to never delete the Inetpub folder or it
would mess up the server.

Thank you for information.

My simple rule of thumb is:
If I created it I can delete it.
If I didn't create it I can't.

Then you have a problem.

You should only create or import or delete files within a FP web directly
from within the FP client application, that way you will not delete files
that are needed by the web server or the FP extensions, etc.

Okay, I did not specify anything after localhost when I
frist tried to publish to it. Now I have a mess. At least
it is working now after reintalling XP! So am I asking for
trouble if I go to the wwwroot file and try to delete
folders?

Or put it another way, if I deleted all folders under
wwwroot, would things be messed up or could I publish and
straighten things out?

Anything you do to IIS folders in the file system is likely to break
something, unless you know exactly what you're doing. Use FrontPage or IIS
to manage thos files and folders.
