xl98 not enough memory on excel office x files

One of my users e-mailed an excel file to another and got
the "not enough memory" error when trying to open the file.
The sender uses Office X on Mac OS X (jaguar). The
recipient uses Office 98 on Mac OS 9.2.2. I found a
workaround by having the sender DELETE empty sheets 2 and
3. Is there a more permanent fix in case someone wants to
send a file with 2 or more sheets? thank you. steve
