XLS 2007 pivoting off SSAS 2005 > odd behavior

My team is using Excel 2007 to Pivot off an Analysis Services 2005 data cube,
and we're getting some odd & inconsistent behavior between users.

When we go into the XLS Pivot Options, some of the options are grayed out
and disabled. The odd thing is that the disabled ones are different for each
user. I can't reach Display tab > "Show properties in tooltips". My
co-developer has this, but can't reach Totals & Filters > "Subtotal filtered
page items" or Display > "Display item labels when no fields are in the
values area".

We discovered this while investigating a crashing problem that seems to be
related to those "properties in tooltips". The solution to avoid crashing is
to go into the PivotTable Options and turn off the option, but that's not
available to all of us. All users involved here are Administrators, so we
don't think it's a matter of security or roles.

Anyone have an idea of what might cause this? Is there some general option
in Excel, Office, a particular Data Connection (or maybe even .NET or
Windows) that might impact which PivotTable Options a person has access to?
