XML component for exporting View data to Excel is missing

I created an OLAP cube and specified a view. I'm now trying to export (Project view) data into an Excel spreadsheet. When I click the link, I'm receiving a message saying that the XML component required to generate the spreadsheet is unavailable, and says to copy this info to Notepad, save the Notepad file with a *.xml extension, and open the file as an XML spreadsheet. I'm using Office XP
1. Why is this component missing in the first place...how do I fix this
2. There is no option in Excel XP to open an XML file as an XML spreadsheet - what do I do now

If you're using PS 2003, you need Office 2003 to use this feature.
