XML Files slow to process (Project 2002 Server)

Hello,

We have noticed that the processing of XML files in the View Drop folder
seems erratic and slow.

For example sometimes the XML files get processed as soon as a project is
published, but sometimes the files start to build up and can take 20,30, 40
minutes to clear. As the number of users increases this activity is likely
to increase. I am concerned that a build up of XML files will greatly
impede performance.

Can anyone tell me what controls the speed of processing of XML files and
whether this is configurable. Also what is it that determines how soon an
XML file is processed ?

We had 20 files in the ViewDrop folder this morning and it took 30 minutes
to process them.

We have a two server config, and the load isn't that high, becuase we are
still just rolling the solution out. But I need to understand this issue to
determine how we scale the solution.
