XML Fill Error

I just finished adding an INDEX to 4 Word 2007 Documents. After saving them
I cannot re-open them.

I get the following error: The Office XML file RTP April 2007.dovx cannot
be opened because there are problems with the contents.

Details: Unspecified error
Location: Part:/word/document.xml, Line:2, Column: 730441

How can I recover (open) this 200 page document??

I had the exact same error. I was finally able to get mine by saving the
document as a "Word 97-2003 Document"...however, I had the original
document...before I added the index so I could start my index over again. If
you do not have that, you might be able to modify the permissions and make it
a .doc file (in word 97-2003).

Thanks for the help you have give so far.

How do I change the permissions to change it to a .doc file.

I don't even know where to go to change the permissions on a document I
can't open.

If you "right-click" on the name of the document and go to properties, you
might be able to change it there. If not, right click on the name of the
document and rename it with a .doc extension (e.g., TRP.doc). I hope that
will help.
