XP and Office 97

Not working together well at all.
Office 97 installs OK, but here are 3 problems i
encounter:
1. cannot open files created with Off97 and copied over
network to XP (e)machine. Files copied from cd-archive
can be opened. Go figure.
2. CANNOT PRINT modified Word97 files. Program Word97
crashes and closes.
3. cannot copy & paste from an .html page to Word97 on the
XP. Word97 crashes and closes.

You know, i still have a copy of Claris version 1 from
1993. and IT WORKS on every PC i've ever had.
If this incompatibility between XP-os and OFFice 97 is
deliberate, I am completely and totally furious. Our
small volunteer organization cannot afford to buy a new
Office package.

Customers should be able to make buying decisions based on
new features/upgrades. Not be tricked into upgrading
because of incompatibility issues when its the same
company producing these products!
I am totally ready to move to Linux.

There is no compatibiltity problems with Office 97 and XP as far as we're
aware. Have you tried reinstalling Office 97 on your XP machine again?

Calm down. XP and Office 97 should work just fine. I used it for a
couple of years this way. (now on XP with Office 2003).

Someone has done something wrong (although hard to think what it might
be), or your copy of XP is flawed. Suggest you un-install Office 97, and
do a fresh install. Insure you do it with an ID which has rights to
install software, e.g. Admininstrator.
