XP Doc Imaging, unable to change/access target folder

Trying to eliminate my stacks of paper! Want to scan directly to a CD-RW
using XP Document Imaging. When I tried to specify the CD-RW drive [D:] get
"incorrect function" message along with "you do not have access....contact
your administrator..." I'm the only user/administrator. Please let me know
what I'm doing or not doing to create this situation.
