I can only make a new Word 2003 document by opening a saved
word document and then clicking on NEW. How do I fix this
and please tell me how to put a Word icon on each account
users desktop. Thank you so much!

How are you starting Word? What happens when you start Word using the
Start menu? Are you starting Word by opening an existing document?

Regarding your Desktop icon, if there is a Word icon available in your
Start menu, right-drag it to your Desktop and select "Copy here" from
the shortcut menu.

Otherwise you will need to locate WinWord.exe, right-click the
executable and select Send To/Desktop (create shortcut).

Word does not start in the start menu. When I click the
icon in the menu, it says that this shortcut does not exist
or something like that. I have to go to a saved word
document and then click on new to do a new word document.

For the desktop issue (how do I place certain programs on
all account users desktops), when I have dragged things
from the programs menu onto my admin desktop, it disappears
from the account users start menus.

Hi Renae,

You need to search for Winword.exe and create a new shortcut to it.

Regarding dragging items off the Start menu: if you click and hold
with the right mouse button, rather than the left, and drag it you
will be prompted with a shortcut with a list of action choices.
