Xp Office Small Business

I have a PC purchased through Dell and when I go on to
the Windows Update page it comes up with a list of
updates that it says are recommended but cannot load them
until I load Service Pack 1, I click to do this and it
says it is downloaded but needs to be instaled. When I
try to instal it it asks for the CD XP PRO with Front
Page to be inserted. I don't have this I have a CD which
is Office XP Small Business which is doesn't accept and
cancels the installation and I cannot then complete any
others updates. I have contacted Dell who said the
Service Pack 1 I am trying to load is the wrong one but
there is only 1 for XP, so I rung them back and they said
it must already be loaded. I have looked in my programs
and cannot see anything to say whether it is or not and
they also said about 'Proplus' but I can't find this
either. As I am very new to this and no next to nothing
about the intricacies of a PC I am drowning fast in
technology. Can anyone help me out there!!!

What precisely has this to do with OFFICE?! Why are you inserting the Office
CD when it's asking for your WINDOWS CD?! Why would it be asking for your
OFFICE CD anyway?! I am totally and utterly confused - you don't download
OFFICE updates from the WINDOWS Update site.

Please be aware that Microsoft do not, cannot and will not support OEM
installations of any of their products - you waived your right to MS support
when you purchased OEM - your only choice is to pursue this with Dell.

Cass - cut the guy a little slack, eh?

Obviously, Dell used the Office Professional CD to load only the programs
that come with Office SBE. I instructed the poster to remove the Office
installation and then reload it using the SBE CDs that were provided to him.

If he is unable to uninstall the suite, then Dell is responsible for
providing the correct CDs to the poster in order for him to uninstall.

Dell has really gone downhill recently...

When I purchased my Inspiron notebook from them in 1999, they were at the
top of their game. I am afraid they are now just coasting.

I'm afraid here they've always been crap. All the Dell TS staff I've ever
spoken to didn't even know what software was provided with their systems,
the difference between Home and Pro and what the difference was between the
different Office suites. I've given up on Dell completely - my father had
Dells at work, but has since switched to HP (only marginally less crap).
