XP v NT - formula bar

On NT there was an = on the formula bar but on XP it has
been replaced with fx. How can this be changed to =
instead of fx?

That was a change in design from Excel 2000 to Excel 2002. I don't think
there is an option to change it back.

But you could modify a toolbar and put the equal sign near where you want it:

Tools|Customize|commands tab|Insert Category
(about half way down is the = sign--well in xl2002)
