XP vs. Vista can't find a specific settin in Vista

I have never used Vista before, only XP.

I'm a student and I'm trying to find what woud be the "tools menu" in the
toolbar in XP... I can't seem to locate it on Vista......

from there I would need "settings", then the "customize icon" which should
then bring up the window, "Customize Settings"

Once that window comes up, I should be able to select what version of word
I'm running....

those are a few of the steps I need help navigating in Vista in order to set
up one of my school courses...

Can someone please help?!?!

Much appreciated
Thanks

Vista doesnt come with any version of Office, unless
1) Its a preinstalled Trial Version
2) You installed some version of Office from cd/dvd
So which is it?

In Word do Office Button (that's the pizza-like thing), then click on Word
Options (bottom R/H side), click on Resources and then About Microsoft Word.
If indeed that's what you are after - your original post is a bit vague in
that respect..
