Yep, your are right.

OK, you are right. I went back to the machine that had Office 2007 on it
and I went to the "Microsoft Office Tools" folder and clicked on "Microsoft
Office Document Imaging" and got a message "Insert the Microsoft XP
Professional with Frontpage" (mind you this was from Microsoft Office
Professional 2007), which I did and then, Microsoft Office Document Imaging
was installed! I did get confused as I thought it couldn't find the .mdi
driver.

So I have two machines that have Microsoft Office Document Imageing
installed and neither of them will recognize a .mdi file. The only file
format available in the drop down menu is .tif.

So perhaps you can tell me where to get the driver for .mdi files.

Thanks

You misread or mistyped something. There is no such thing as Office 2007
with FrontPage.

All I know is that it's on the disk somewhere. Try doing a repair. I think
it's one of the installationa options but maybe someone else will be able to
give you better/more thorough advice.

I asked a realtor to send me a floorplan of a house I am interested in.
He, being as technical as most real estate sales people are, scanned the
floorplans into .mdi files.

I being a retired computer professional, said to myself, "I can handle
this, after all, it is a Microsoft Office file format and I have both
Office XP Pro with Frontpage and Office Professional
007". ---------------Wrong!!!

Neither recognize the .mdi format in Microsoft Office Document Imaging.

Office Pro 2007 tells me to insert the distribution disk which I did and
then apparently was unable to find the driver. It told me it needed
Office 2007 with Frontpage, which I don't have but I would think if I
have
Microsoft Office Document Imaging, I should have enough.

Thanks, in advance for anyone able to help.

MS Office XP's version of MS Office Document Imaging can open .MDI files but did not have the MS Office Document Imaging Printer,
Office 2003 and Office 2007 do have that optional installation feature. In some cases you may need to set MS Office Document
Imaging to 'Not Available', to uninstall it, restart the PC then readd it with the Document Imaging Writer using Office 2007 choice
in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.
