You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time - er

After scrolling through previous posts I saw a problem with the above message
showing up 31 times when an access database was opened. This was due to Adobe
version 7 having an Access add-in. When removed, it fixed the problem. I get
the same error message but I think it is due to something else.

I wrote an Access application which I distribute with runtime libraries. I
have a secure mdw which I use on my machine. When it is distributed, the
users use the system.mdw file. Most of them are working fine. I did notice
that when I connect to the system.mdw I receive the error "You do not have
exclusive access to the database at this time. If you proceed to make
changes, you may not be able to save them later." I click OK one time and it
goes away and does not seem to cause any trouble (I can save changes to the
data with no problem). I have now heard from two different users who have
received this message. They received it "at least a dozen times" and the
other said it was 15 times before it went away. Again, things seem to work
fine once the message stops appearing.

One user thinks - "I believe I have the "error" figured out. This new
computer has a RAID drive. Access 2000 is simply not designed for a dual
drive storage device that is polling and storing database between the device.
The database is "in use" because it is a dual drive design."

If this is the problem is there anything I can do to get the message to not
show up? Any other thoughts? I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi Max,

I don't know how to fix it; however, I'm sure glad that you posted your
problem. I'll have to remember that Adobe 7, RAID, and security might be
causing these problems if I ever run into it.

Thanks,
