you do not have permissions...

I accidentally went under the tools menu and joined a workgroup in the
security tab. Consequently, when I try to open the original database sheet I
created, I get a message saying, "You do not have permissions to use the
'\\Server\data\Access\"name of my file.mdb' object. Have your system
administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate
permissions for you."

Unfortunately, the one IT person we have has no clue how to go under
Administrator and fix this problem. Is there any other way I can retrieve my
document - some way that I could fix the problem via my desktop?

Thank you.

Why don't you try joining the original workgroup your database was created
with.
Your problem should be solved.

Well, that makes sense, but I don't know what the original workgroup path is.
I looked under system information and saw what the workgroup name is, but
what do I type in the section that asks for the workgroup path? I need a
path and a name. If you tell me the format (i.e...C:\Documents and Settings\
etc..), I can enter in the correct data.?

It depends on which version os and Access you have. The default workgroup is
named system.mdw.

Look here:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Access\system.
mdw

or here:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\system.mdw

Try using Start, Search and look for *.mdw (be sure to include hidden and
system folders in the search).
