You Will Need To Use Section Breaks

Word uses "Sections" to control headers/footers. You can have a first page header/footer. This means that the contents of the first page header/footer can be different then the rest of the pages. You are trying to eliminate the contents of the header/footer of two pages. The only means of performing this operation that is to use "Section" breaks

Hi Mark,

See my previous response. Sections are not needed to do this. If they aren't
needed for some other purpose, extra sections shouldn't be added because
they complicate editing. For more on sections, headers & footers, etc. see
http://addbalance.com/usersguide/sections.htm.

BTW, please don't change the subject line when responding to a post. While
many newsreaders will still maintain the thread, others will not.
