Zip codes become "0" folloing a merge

R

Russ

92129-1234 in an Excel DB becomes "0" when merged in Word.
How can I prevent this?

2nd - If I simply delete the last 4 and the dash "0" still
appears. The only way to get a zip code to show is to copy
the contents of another cell with the desired zip code in
it. If I copy another Zip code in just to get the
formatting, then change it tot the zip I want, the zip
still shows up as "0".

Any Ideas Why or how to correct the problem???

Thanks, Russ
