Compress Picture Makes File Larger

D

Deb

I have a document that I inserted several screen shots
into. I cropped each picture and used the option to
compress all pictures in the document, thereby deleting
the cropped portions.

However, my original file size was 2 MG, when I finished
it was 4.87MG.

I thought this was supposed to COMPRESS the picture, not
EXPAND it?

Can anyone advise me what I did wrong, or is the yet
another MS invention of bloatware?

Sorry, letting off steam!

It seems to work in Word 2003.
One of my staff has Word 2003 - he showed me a word
Document that wa 6 megs - three pictures were in the
document. Doing exactly what you described - the three
page document is now 100Kb - he set the grapic
compression to Web vies = 96dpi
I tried the same thing in my PC Word 2002 SP2 - the file
did not reduce at all. Tried it on three other machines
with Word 2002 SP2 - same thing.

Let me know if you get a fix or answere.......
