converting claris office works files to excel files

Can someone let me know how to convert an old Claris
office works version 4 to an Excel 2000 file?.

I have tried various methods without success.

Have you tried exporting the file from Claris as a Comma Separated Value
file or CSV? Excel will import that type natively.
