Encarta and Word

Mr. Nobody

I'm using Win XPP,SP-2 and Office Pro 2003 on a laptop. Generally I'm happy
with it all. But I would like to be able to access my Encarta 2004 from
within Word when I'm not able to get on the internet.

The research function works great when I have internet access. But somtimes
I can't get to a internet connection. I have a copy of Encarta 2004
installed and would like to use it from inside Word. Currently I shrink
word and open Encarta to do some research, then exit or shrink Encarta and
resume work in word.

I hope this makes sense to someone and can tell me if this is possible or
not, and how to do it. Thanks in advance to anyone with the answer.

What you want to do makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, if there's a way to
do it, it's awfully elusive.

One thing that *might* make life a little easier... I don't know if Encarta
2004 has this feature, but version 2005 has the Encarta Search Bar.
Right-click the task bar, choose Toolbars - Encarta Search Bar. If it's
there... you can set its default search to the Encyclopedia. Then, when you
need to look something up, go to the task bar. This saves the step of having
to open Encarta.

Note: I no longer have access to version 2004, so I don't know if this is an
option for you.
