Entourage cannot receive email - keeps asking for password

P

Paul Matthews

Entourage sends email but won't receive. The error message says Server has
returned message Invalid. Password / security settings may be incorrect
would you like to re-enter? If I do re-enter password, it still comes up
with the same message. Have tried deleting email account and recreating.
Have also tried Keychain First Aid nothing makes any difference.

Am relying on webmail which is very unsatisfactory as I have to switch
between the two all the time.

Thanks for all help offered.

Since you're using webmail then you obviously know you're using the
correct password when entering it into Entourage.

Go into Tools --> Accounts and double-click your mail account. Do you
have the correct name? Some accounts use just "Username" whereas others
may require "(e-mail address removed)". Even if you think you have the
correct name, go ahead and type it again. You may have a hidden space or
have substituted one character for another.

Do you need to click the button for advanced settings and enable/disable
SSL?

Hope this helps!

Hi Bill, I am also having the same problem - not receiving emails (I can send them from Entourage but not receive), have been in and checked username etc...and it is still not receiving emails. I have read that you can empty "chache" but am a bit reluctant to do this...have you had any experience with this???
