MS Office 2003

My 8 year old computer died. I had to get a new one. I am trying to
reinstall Office 2003 but I only have the upgrade disc. The original version
of Word, Excel, etc. was on the old computer when I bought it. How can I
install Office 2003 on the new computer with only an upgrade disc?

well, there are all
kinds of deaths that
could occur to a
computer.

perhaps, the disk
drive with all the programs
on it is still functional,

in which case you can
install that drive into your
new computer as a slave /
secondary hard disk "or"
master if you prefer.

Thanks for the reply. The problem with my old computer was the hard drive
quit and is unrecoverable. I did use Retrospect 7.6 backup software weekly
on the old computer so I still have the program files on the backup disc. I
moved them to the new disc but I still can't install MS 2003 from the upgrade
disc.

ok, well the problem
may be fundamental.

if you install an upgrade,
the installation will look for
a previous version of the
software it is upgrading.

I'm not sure anymore,
but I think office 97
would be a qualifying
software that is permitted
to be upgraded.

Buy a dirt-cheap prior version of Office on Ebay - it doesn't matter in this
case if it's pirated or not, as your Licence is genuine...
Or make a copy from a friend....
