MS-Project 2003 Resource allocation

Hi,
I am working on MS-Project 2003 with Project Server 2003 environment, I have
a question regarding MSP as follows:

I have a two separate project, example Project1 and Project2, and suppose
one resource1 assigned on a task in Project1 for 60% and remaining 40%
assigned on another task on Project2.

Suppose when the resource1 does only 40% in project1 then 20% work has to be
overallocated for this resource1 then what will be effect on second
Project2,there same resource is working for 40%.

Project2 will be extend or there it will be show resource overallocated?

Basically, here my client's wants second project should be extend
automatically according delay of Project1, because in Project1 resource1
works only 40% which is less of assigned 60% work then remaining work delays
the duration of task then it should be reflect on Project2 there same
resource1 is working.
It could be possible to show in Project2, the effect of resource1 task delay
in Project1.?

If a task in Project 2 is affected by a delay in a task from Project 1
(because of a resource shortage or for any other reason) then I would
suggest possibly using a dependency between the two tasks. This way, if you
task in Project 1 has not been completed in time due to a lower utilization
then expected and the end date moves, it will push out the end date of the
task in Project 2. Since these are two separate Projects, this will be an
external dependency.

hi Jonathan,

Thanks for this response, but when i externally link a task1 of
project1 with another project 2 then this task(in project1 task1) goes
to as predeccsor for project2 and when as i link this task1 with
project2 task then project2 start date and finish dates are changed
automaticaly according to task1 duration(because there will be FS
dependecy) so initially the dates of project2 should not be changed.
The dates should be changed when project1 task1 goes to delay or
extend.

how can i solve this??
pls. give some idea.
