Hi,

In MS Project 2007, in Resource Usage view, the dates shown are EARLY dates,
how can I show the same using LATE dates?

Thank you,

Hello Muny,

I'm guessing you have added the Early Start field to the Usage
table (left side) of the Resource Usage view. You may add the
Late Start and Late finish through Insert > Column.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie:

Thanks for your reply.
I don't mean the table at the left, but the table at the right, which show
the usage of the resources over the timescale. it shows only for Early dats,
and I want it as well to show for Late dates

Thanks,

Muny

Hi Muny,

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "early date" and
"late date" on the right side. When you look at the right
(timescaled) side of the view, you can see work per day, per
week, per month etc. based upon the zoom you've set. The work
values start in the grid on the date the resource assignments
begin and end when the work on the assignment ends.

Can you describe what you are looking for in another way?

Hi Julie:

Let's assume I have a task "Painting", ES = 08 MAR, EF = 14 MAR, LS= 12 MAR
LF= 18 MAR, Resource Usage view will show the resources loaded on the period
from 08 MAR to 14 MAR!! How can I see it from 12 MAR to 18 MAR.

Thanks,

Muny

Hello Muny,

The information you see in the resource usage view is assignment
information. The resource is scheduled on the assignment at the
start and finish dates. The Early Start, Early Finish, late
Start and Late Finish are task values and are not visible in the
resource usage view. It sounds as if the task early is equal to
the task start and the task early finish is equal to the task
finish.

You can view the Resource Allocation view (Resource Usage over
the Leveling Gantt) and add early start, late start, early
finish, late finish to the table. The Leveling Gantt also by
default shows slack graphically. Using the value in the slack
field, I suppose you could add assignment delay equal to the
total slack to force the assignment to equal the late start and
late finish. You'll need to add the assignment delay to the
Resource Usage view.

Hi Muny,

I haven't tried this out, but if you schedule from the finish (Project/Project Information) I would have thought you'd get what you want. However, have you considered the wisdom of this? If you schedule to latest dates, every tasks will become critical and you will lose all the flexibility that Project offers.
